Food Service Worker + Delivery Driver

Our team is responsible for safely producing delicious and healthy school lunches for hundreds of children daily.  Our delivery drivers bring our delicious meals to schools around Oahu each morning.

Food Service Worker (6am-11am)

  • Performs duties at various workstations: 

  • Assembly line: Set up hot and cold food pans; communicate with cooks & supervisors when food items get low or run out; and change pans as instructed by Supervisors.

  • Dish Room/Pots and Pans: Pre-wash, scrub, wash, and put away pots, pans, cutting boards, containers, cutlery and serving utensils. 

  • Sanitation/Custodial: Sweep and/or mop floors. Empty trash cans and deposit trash in appropriate receptacles, replace trash liners neatly. 

  • Sets up trays in assembly line.  Sets up tray line stations with hot and cold foods.

  • Ensures that food containers contain adequate food throughout the meal period and that proper serving line temperature is maintained. 

  • Prepares fresh fruits and vegetables includes washing and cutting.

  • Prepares food for cooking according to standard practice and as directed by Supervisors.  

  • Serves food in standard portions (unless otherwise requested) at a flow rate of 75 trays every 30 minutes through the serving lines.

  • Carefully packs sealed trays into delivery coolers; properly counting according to school.

  • Follows standard practices to rotate inventory promoting first-in/first-out method.  Label and store food according to standard practice.

  • Carefully pushes tray carts throughout various facility areas and carries trays directly into rooms according to standard practice.

Cleaning & Sanitization: 

  • Cleans kitchen areas including tables, food preparation and serving facilities as assigned.

  • Washes pots, pans, containers, cutlery, and serving utensils.

  • Complete and pass employer-sponsored ServSafe certification.

 Other Duties:

  • Follows all safety procedures and practices, and safeguards and proper safety gear, such as gloves and hairnets, are used when appropriate, and cleaning chemicals are used properly.

  • Follows established work rules, standards of conduct, policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Performs other reasonably related business duties as assigned such as clean and maintain assigned equipment and notify supervisor of equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement.

 Working Conditions/Hours:

  • Scheduled for work 5 days a week. The Happy Bento operates on every school day. 

  • Works in a fast-paced environment.

  • Works with a diverse group of people and at times under difficult situations.

  • Steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing often cause uncomfortably high temperatures.  The area is usually noisy and there is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped while the workers are in the area. 

  • Some workers may be subjected to getting wet while using pressure-washing equipment.  

  • Some workers are exposed to extreme temperatures of the hot kitchen, refrigerator or freezer.   

Delivery Driver (9am-12pm)

  • Hourly wage + mileage reimbursement (current Federal rate is $0.58/mile).

  • Be on time, every time.

  • Transport delivery coolers to schools according to route.

  • Communicate with Supervisor while on route; inform when deliveries completed.

  • Delivery Driver: Safe driver, use own insured vehicle to transport delivery coolers, current registration and safety check. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Clearance/Certification: 1) TB clearance, 2) Criminal background check, 3) Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing; 4) Child Protective Services/Adult Protective check.

  • Teamwork and a positive attitude, desire to learn.

  • Dedication to being on time, every time.

Preferred

  • Education: High School diploma or Certificate of Completion or equivalent

  • Experience: Proven track record of being on time and a willingness to learn.
